Carrie Foreword
Well there I am - meditating at the mouse while my staff labour for our daily crust. Now who was it that said "dogs have owners but cats have staff"? Sadly, not me.
Given the number of times I have told herself that I am an obligate carnivore, I hope it is not a crust - or some disgusting canned muck - for tea. (Yes, of course she had to look up 'obligate'!) Humm... now that I think about it, I rather fancy a nice bit of steak. After which I may perambulate around my estate or I may resume my deep meditation (we cats NEVER sleep).
So that's him and here am I his 'slave' or as he prefers, 'his staff'.
I have spent most of my working life in the publishing industry - of one form or another - and always at the pointed end. “What or where is the pointed end?” I hear you ask. The pointed end is ‘production’ - a twilight land that others believe is populated by people who walk on water; a land where the chips are always down. After authors, clients, editors, designers, accountants, and everyone else has finished phafing about and a delivery or distribution deadline looms (or has just shot past - with penalty clauses), then the gnomes of production rise and walk!
Oh yes, we’re mostly grey-haired (or bald!), irascible, and have many scars on our hands and feet. Our favourite word is “No!” And our favourite phrases are unprintable on a public website!
My interests are wide and result from being naturally eclectic. Interests include nutrition, alternative medicine, complementary therapies, growing vegetables, self-reliance, the intricacies of living with a cat (and recently) the practicalities of keeping chickens. I am about to add to that list vermiculture - worms - raising earthworms and using their by-products.
I am interested in the work of the Parkinson’s Recovery Project (USA), and I am an FSR practitioner (Forceless Spontaneous Release is a form of Chinese Tui Na). I also hold qualifications in Reiki, and I have an ongoing interest in applied orthomolecular medicine and other nutritional approaches to health.
Readers should be clear that I only know what I know - or at this stage in life, what I can remember - and that is limited! So, if there are glaring errors on any page, please tell me about it.
Apart from all that, I am busy getting my own blog site together – please hop on over for a looksee.
